Catherine House Inc.
What does this organisation do?
Catherine House is dedicated to finding solutions to overcome women’s homelessness and transform their lives. We believe every woman has the potential to make positive choices about her future. Catherine House provides supported emergency accommodation and mental health programs for adult women experiencing homelessness. We also provide pathways to life skills development and education with the aim of reducing homelessness long term through building the independence and resilience of women experiencing homelessness. Our recovery oriented activities are offered at the Catherine House Women's Centre, located on site, and include health, wellbeing, art, music, and education and employment pathways.
People who are experiencing discrimination or disadvantage due to personal circumstances
We all expect to be treated with respect and afforded the same opportunity. Yet some people experience disadvantage as a result of discrimination.
People affected by domestic or family violence or abuse
We all expect to be treated with respect and fairness by our partners and in our families. Yet domestic violence is the leading contributor to death, disability and ill-health in Australian women aged 15-44. Children exposed to domestic or family violence are at increased risk of mental health, behavioural and learning difficulties.
