South Australia’s world-leading investment and commitment to involving the public in the democratic process, has seen the State Government’s Fund My Community program win the 2017 United Nations Public Service Award.

The accolade follows the announcement of an unprecedented $40 million in funding in the recent State Budget to expand its range of programs expressly designed to give South Australians the power to make the decisions that will help or improve their communities.

The UN award – for ideas that make a positive change in society – was bestowed overnight for promoting transparency, accountability and integrity in the public service, and recognises the State’s foremost national role in contributing to the improvement of public administration in Australia.

Through the current round of Fund My Community, already more than 2500 South Australians have decided how best to allocate $1 million of State Government funding for projects to improve their communities and the lives of people in them. You can view the outcome of this year's program here.
