The Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board is currently working to update the 2009 Barossa Water Allocation Plan, in consultation with the community, industry and other key stakeholders such as local councils and the RDA. This update will be based on the latest information about water resources in the area, as well as their importance to the community for different purposes.
Water allocation plans help manage water resources such as surface water in farm dams, creeks and rivers, and groundwater in the aquifers below the soil surface. This is especially important where limited water resources are under demand for multiple purposes. Information from the community about the value of, and threats to, water resources in the area will help identify priorities in a water allocation plan for the future management of ground and surface water in the Barossa.
