Have your say on how we shape citizen science projects on Eyre Peninsula.
What is being decided?
A key goal of Eyre Peninsula’s natural resources management plan is that the community is actively involved in managing natural resources across the region. Natural Resources Eyre Peninsula supports citizen science as an innovative and exciting way of engaging the community while increasing our knowledge of the region’s natural environments.
To date, most of Natural Resources Eyre Peninsula’s citizen science projects have been developed opportunistically. While they are often successful in achieving research and engagement outcomes, more time must be given to planning and developing future projects to ensure they meet the natural resources management plan’s objectives.
The Draft Citizen Science Strategy for Eyre Peninsula has been developed to guide future citizen science initiatives.
The strategy aims to increase the number of community members participating in citizen science activities, build environmental monitoring skills and knowledge in the community and increase the number of citizen science projects in the region over the next 4 years.
We are keen to hear your thoughts and ideas about how the strategy could be used and whether it meets the needs of our citizen science community.
We would also like to hear from anyone who has an idea for a new citizen science project or would like to participate in our existing projects on Eyre Peninsula.
How can your input influence the decision?
