Fund My Idea Southern Suburbs accepted ideas for projects delivered with the City of Onkaparinga council region. A total pool of $50,000 was made available. After a public voting period, the government assessed the top five ranked ideas as voted by the community. The following projects received funding:
Safe Kennels for pets of people living with mental illness and women and families affected by family violence ($20,000)
The grant will allow the RSPCA to provide safe kennels for around 18 people with a mental illness or in domestic violence situations, based on an average kennel stay of around six weeks.
Big Brothers Big Sisters in the South ($20,000)
Big Brothers Big Sisters in the South is a youth mentoring program that will match children and young people aged 7-17 who are disadvantaged, at risk or socially isolated with positive adult role models. The grant will allow the applicant, YWCA, to match up to 12 young people with adult role models.
Breakfastbellies provides food products to schools wishing to run breakfast and lunch box programs. The grant will contribute to infrastructure costs of the program, including the potential installation of refrigeration in vehicles and/or the purchase of additional fridges and freezers to cope with an expansion of operations.
