Witjira National Park

Have your say on the Witjira National Park Draft Management Plan (PDF 4.8MB), which sets out the management directions for Witjira National Park.

What is being decided?

A management plan for Witjira National Park is being developed by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) in conjunction with the Witjira National Park Co-management Board. Once finalised, the plan will set out objectives and strategies for the ongoing protection and conservation of Witjira National Park.

How can your input influence the decision?

The draft management plan has been developed to facilitate community input into the future management of this national park. The plan addresses the most important issues facing the park, focusing on three key themes:

Theme 1: Increasing connection to Country for Wangkangurru and Lower Southern Arrernte people

Theme 2: Protecting and enhancing the Witjira National Park environment

Theme 3: Providing a unique cultural and nature-based experience for visitors

Members of the community are encouraged to express their views on the draft plan by making a submission. All submissions will be considered in the development of the final plan. Submissions may be made up to 9 June 2017.
