How will the funding be spent?
The funding will be spent to scale-up our current program to feed disadvantaged families. With the funds we will be able to buy the necessary equipment to maintain and deliver our free food service. Currently, we are running with an assortment of donated tables that are not in OH&S standards.
We also offer second hand items to our recipients for free but only have one trailer to help with moving these items, limiting our donations.
Our ability to provide hot meals is solely on volunteer donors.
How will the project be delivered?
The project will be delivered at our premises at Forestville and promoted through social media sites (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and will be run on a complete volunteer basis, where qualified volunteers will run the project and assist with giving the families the best experience possible in making them feel wonderful and taken care of. The project will delivered in a hassle-free, stress-free environment for the families and people in need.
How many people will directly benefit from this project?
1,000
How will you measure the impact of this project?
We will measure the impact of the project through several ways:
(1) Weekly evaluation of the program with volunteers/staff at weekly review meetings
(2) Written evaluations from a random pool of participants of the project
(3) Feedback from participants in the project (we promote open honest communication)
In addition we will have formal evaluation forms for volunteers that are collated into a formal collaborative report that highlights the strengths and weaknesses, and the impact of this funding and the project.
How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?
We aim to CONNECT with more families and more volunteers in order for our project to GROW.
We provide an environment for people to BELONG, not only for families and people in need but also for the volunteers that give up their time to help facilitate the free food nights and interact with our regulars and newcomers.
Thanks to the positive feedback on our Facebook page, we aim to BUILD more relationships with more families and volunteers, which with enough funding, will see us through it.

People who are experiencing discrimination or disadvantage due to personal circumstances
We all expect to be treated with respect and afforded the same opportunity. Yet some people experience disadvantage as a result of discrimination.

Low income families and the long term unemployed
Employment is a significant factor in our wellbeing. Employment provides financial independence, improves our physical and mental health, expands our social networks and builds our skills.
On the flip side, long term unemployment or underemployment negatively impacts our wellbeing. It contributes to poor mental and physical health, social isolation and poverty. And it can negatively impact the wellbeing of our children.
