Get Digital

20161018 094518

Decrease digital distress for people with disability and their families.

How will the funding be spent?

The money will be spent on necessary physical resources e.g. Digital Access, Supervision, Facilitation, and day to day expenses in delivering the project. The project aims to put decisions back into the hands of people with disability, and their families, by increasing their digital confidence and tapping into unused resources. Funds will be used to increase digital literacy, improve accessibility, improve efficacy, expand networks, and improve personal capacity and power.

How will the project be delivered?

Finding Workable Solutions Inc. (FWS) has sites in the areas the project is intended to be delivered. The project will be widely promoted to these communities and we will conduct an intake and assessment process to gauge individual need. People with disability can attend FWS sites and, as required, the facilitator can conduct home visits to assist those that are not comfortable in attending sites. We will ensure that project staff have all the necessary DCSI clearances.

How many people will directly benefit from this project?

How will you measure the impact of this project?

Participants, including advocates, will self assess using an similar model to the outcome 'star' model. This model allows for pre, mid and post project assessment. Assistance for self assessment will be sought from advocates if necessary. The model provides useful data that can be used to apply interventions at required times throughout the project. Participants progress will be closely monitored and a questionnaire/survey will be conducted using motivational interviewing techniques.

How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?

The project will engage with people in a number of S.A. communities that are socially disadvantaged and/or impacted by disability. The objective of the project is to foster self determination through improving accessibility to community and services. Achieving this can occur through the effective use of information technology, including the development of on-line peer groups in relevant communities. Help to navigate complex websites (MyGov, NDIS MyPlace) will enhance service connectedness.
