How will the funding be spent?
Funding will be spent to landscape and finish the skate park area. The community raised all of the money to build the skate park with the help of the Variety Club. We would like to finish the project
How will the project be delivered?
Lions Club members and other interested members of the community will undertake working bees as volunteers . The funds will be used to purchase the materials needed to complete the work.
How many people will directly benefit from this project?
the whole community
How will you measure the impact of this project?
Families are able to utilise the barbecue and shade facilities in the Lions Park while watching their children have fun on the skate park and adjacent playground. Since the skate park was officially opened it has been well utilised by the youth of the Community.
How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?
In recent years a group of concerned residents got together and began a fundraising campaign to build a skate park to provide a place for youth in the community and for those visiting to enjoy themselves. In 2016 the skatepark was erected, however their were not enough funds to beautify the surrounding areas.

The skatepark is used by so many locals, young and old, having landscaping will beautify the area, add shade and get rid of the mud and dirt that messes up the kids skateboards when they end up in the mud puddles, it will finish this area off just nicely
With the Skate park coming to fruition has been a wonderful asset not only for the Youth of the Cowell community but also for families and tourism. However it would be welcoming for the whole of the community if the landscaping was completed.
Young people disengaged from education and work
We all want the best for our children and young people but the evidence suggests that if young people are not engaged with work or education their future wellbeing is in jeopardy. They are more likely to experience social and economic disadvantage, poorer physical and mental health and be at risk of social exclusion in the short and longer term.

As a frequent visitor to Cowell with young children the skate park has been an amazing addition to our family holidays. Our children enjoy the park immensely and are now always looking forward to our trips over, however I feel the landscaping of the area will just top it off nicely. I would welcome not having to clean the dirt and mud out of their wheels after each play during the wetter months 😀. It would also make it just that bit nicer to the eye and reduce any risk of injury that dirt on the track might cause.
