Helping people with disabilities start and maintain their own business

How will the funding be spent?

Providing a life changing programme that helps people with a disability start and maintain their own businesses. Funding is needed for the supply of course materials, use of an accessible online content delivery portal, event costs at accessible venues, video editing and transcription costs, workshop facilitation, business coaching, logo design for each participant and provision of a programme coordinator. All participants will develop a comprehensive business and marketing plan.

How will the project be delivered?

The Ablepreneur Programme will be delivered to 90 disabled people in Adelaide (the Ablepreneurs) over a 12 month period via 6 course intakes. Courses begin with a two day group workshop followed by 12 one on one coaching sessions. Participants attend 6 course get togethers with the other Ablepreneurs from their course & attend 6 get togethers with Ablepreneurs from all the other courses. Events will have exciting & useful business topics discussed by industry leaders, experts and futurists.

How many people will directly benefit from this project?


How will you measure the impact of this project?

It is planned that 6 courses of 15 participants will be conducted over a 12 month period. Each course participant will be asked to contribute to the collection of data relating to measurable outcomes of the Ablepreneur Programme such as;
1)The programme will directly measure, by collection of participant questionnaires at 6 and 12 months after commencement, the number of new businesses that have been started by people with a disability and have begun to generate income.
2)The programme will directly measure, by collection of participant questionnaires at 6 and 12 months after commencement, the number of new positive relationships they have formed that are attributed to being involved in the Ablepreneur Programme.
3) The programme will directly measure, by collection of participant questionnaires before commencement of the program and at 6 and 12 months after commencement, the number of new business skills acquired and the level of business knowledge improvement of skill already possessed.
4) The programme will measure via the use of participant questionnaires, satisfaction levels relating to the structure, course content and facilitation of the Ablepreneur Programme at the completion of each course which would be at the 6 months mark from when they attended the first workshop.
