Rebuilding Smiles

Rebuilding Smiles provides free dental care to women who have experienced domestic violence.

How will the funding be spent?

Rebuilding Smiles volunteer dentists undertake initial consultations and basic dental treatment , however Rebuilding Smile patients require work beyond this.

Funding will be used to undertake complex treatments such as root canal & orthodontics.

E4WSA will also use funding to meet transportation and childcare costs for patients.

To make sure we deliver the best care for Rebuilding Smiles patients E4WSA will hire a part time staff member to oversee the program.

How will the project be delivered?

Essentials 4 Women SA will continue to partner with the Australian Dental Association Foundation (ADAF) for the delivery of this program.

E4WSA identifies patients through our relationship with domestic violence services across SA and work with the ADAF to identify volunteer dentists who are able to complete dental work.

It is anticipated that funding of $80,000 will equate to $320 000 worth of treatment for a minimum of 15 patients.

How many people will directly benefit from this project?

15 to 25 patients

How will you measure the impact of this project?

We will measure the success and impact of Rebuilding Smiles by looking at quantitative data such as number of patients seen, number of appointments attended, increases to the number of volunteer dentists as well as the number of services who refer patients.

In measuring the impact we will work with each patient to review changes in oral pain functioning and aesthetics. Furthermore we will asses what impact improved oral health has had on each patients individual health.

Beyond the health benefits of Rebuilding Smiles we will measure the impact it has had on each patients overall well being and if and how it has improved their connection with community.

How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?

Essentials 4 Women SA has partnered with the Australian Dental Association Foundation to deliver Rebuilding Smiles as a successful pilot program.
Feedback from our patients, demonstrates how powerful the program is in helping women to grow in confidence and reconnect with their community. As one of our patients put it "This program has not only helped me, it has flowed on to help my children, and enable me to be at my best to offer more to my community."
