How will you measure the impact of this project?

Measure the 'hits' on our website.
Update information on an annual basis (to keep it relative and fresh)
Update links (as required)
The maintenance and the ongoing management can be absorbed into our annual funding.

How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?

Survey, studies and commentary from single mothers confirms a sense of isolation, vulnerability and a need to combat negative views regarding their parental abilities. Sole parents are mostly headed up by mums. Depending upon the stats used it can be anything from 86% to 92%.
We want a website display facts, promote a positive image of single mother households whilst counteracting some of the negative stereotypes and myths.

Organisation details

Organisation Name

The National Council of Single Mothers and their Children

What does this organisation do?

We are an organisation for single mothers, primacy is for single mother families contending with hardship. NCSMC believes that having access to information and support, when and as required is empowering. It enables women to make informed decisions, and it better equips them to protect and support themselves and their child/children. NCSMC has advocated for equality of opportunity, financial security and access to justice, legal and human rights for well-over four decades. NCSMC provides information, referrals and assistance to single mothers through our electronic platforms. In the past year we have responded to over 1,300 individual requests whilst our information post can reach up to 53,000 per week. Overwhelmingly single parent households are headed up by a mother, and sadly they are disproportionally impacted prejudiced, judgment and misconception about their strength and validity as a solid family structure.
