Project details

How will the funding be spent?

We will provide professional monitorship of youth artists in the production of community based art work through a range of mediums: visual or performance; ephemeral, or permanent dependent on their interests. We will teach them the skills of project management, guide them through all the steps of planning and executing a successful arts project to enliven our struggling city. The funding will cover the payment of a artist and a producer to mentor the youth and the cost of materials for the wo

How will the project be delivered?

We will initially target young people from our existing membership to plan and execute a range of art interactions in the public sphere. Promotion will occur via social media, school contacts and job provider network to extend the range of participants. The youth will plan each community art experience or work, with the artist as a mentor and themselves as the lead artist. The others within the group will assist with execution with a target of one artwork created each month for 10 months.

How many people will directly benefit from this project?

up to 25 participants with many thousands experiencing the artworks

How will you measure the impact of this project?

We will conduct pre and post assessment surveys with participants, keep an ongoing diary record of interactions, comments and feedback. We utilise social media as a feedback mechanism, and keep records of all other media interactions.

How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?

We will connect young people with other like minded individuals and mentor them to grow their skills as community members and artists to build art interactions for their community to expand their sense of belonging and importance in the community.
