Providing much needed Auslan resources for SA schools

Project details

Budget

$37,500.00

How will the funding be spent?

Funds will be used to produce a free directory of live and animated video content in Auslan (Australian Sign Language) for everyone.

Specifically designed to support teachers to deliver an introduction to Auslan in their classrooms, with accompanying printed material such as posters.

Since the launch of our initial Can:Do Classroom program teachers and SSO's have been urgently requesting additional Auslan resources to support and enhance learning outcomes for their students and schools.

How will the project be delivered?

The materials, once produced, will be made available to teachers, parents and students FREE via our new Can:Do Classroom website, Facebook and YouTube.

How many people will directly benefit from this project?

9800

How will you measure the impact of this project?

The initial impact of this project will be measured by the uptake of the materials, which is measured by a range of online metrics.

We will also measure the project by collecting quantative and qualitative feedback from schools and teachers about the effectiveness of the program and materials, as well as from clients of Deaf Can:Do and Can:Do 4Kids regarding increased use of Auslan in the wider community.

How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?

Deaf people in our communities are often disconnected by language barriers.

At Can:Do we are passionate about building a brighter future for our clients, and believe that we can greatly enhance their success and wellbeing by educating the wider community and building awareness to support the ongoing inclusion of children and adults who are deaf, blind, hearing, vision or sensory impaired.

The Can:Do Classroom brings our expertise into schools to build inclusive communities for everyone.
