Stv one and all 003

Opportunity for youth to discover their own personal new heights in life!

Project details

Who will benefit from this project?

How will the funding be spent?

Funding will be across 4 voyages to fall in each school term, which allows for 48 youth to have an opportunity they many never have or afford.

How will the project be delivered?

Each voyage to have 12 non metropolitan youth & 12 Adelaide metropolitan youth (these youth not included by this grant). Youth will be in mixed teams to participate in the 5 day youth development programme on the ship. The programme's objectives are to develop:
• Self esteem through confidence and a healthier respect for one's self.
• Sensitivity to others as well as the physical environment.
• Team skills through an awareness of the inter-dependent
• Maturity, positive attitude and goal setting

How many people will directly benefit from this project?

48 youth ages 15-19 years

How will you measure the impact of this project?

We ask each participant to complete a survey from the experience on board.
Also we invite select youth to become honorary trainee members from the personal growth gained and looking to a future in maritime studies or community engagement.

How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?

The "connection" of youth from metro and non metro locations
The youth will "grow" when they need to become accountable to each other in their team.
The "building" of trust and communication which is most important for survival at sea.
The "belonging" that is created at sea, the family unit.
It is awesome to see youth arrive as an individual but sail home as a team. They have a new "height" in life in what they have overcome and achieved. This will be the new start to a community life.
