Providing Mobile KinderGym to isolated areas and areas lacking transport.

Project details

How will the funding be spent?

We wish to purchase a trailer suitable for transporting our KinderGym equipment. This will enable us to provide a mobile KinderGym service to children in our wider council area who are currently unable to access our KinderGym sessions due to their location, isolation, or lack of transport. A fully enclosed trailer will be purchased. This trailer will be easily towed by a vehicle, and used for storing and transporting our KinderGym equipment to these locations.

How will the project be delivered?

Firstly, an enclosed trailer will be purchased to enable the instructors to deliver the ‘On the Road’ program in an easy and accessible way. The next step will be to connect with community groups, local council bodies and schools from across the district to pin point the areas where our services are most needed. Two KinderGym coaches will then work together to tailor sessions to be provided that will be suitable for the age and number of children in those areas.

How many people will directly benefit from this project?

80. This will be higher as we provide a wider service and our attendance numbers increase.

How will you measure the impact of this project?

The impact of the project will be measured by monitoring the attendance and enrolment numbers of the KinderGym sessions provided. Any attendance by local families at the mobile sessions will be immediate progress. We will also connect with the attending families, local community groups & members, and schools and ask them to report back on the service being provided and ask for any feedback.

How will the project fit this year's theme of ‘Connect, Grow, Build, Belong’?

In our council area 70% of children that start kindergarten are NOT attending a playgroup or non- parental early childhood education experience. This is because of isolation, location, or lack of transport. We aim to connect with this 70% and their caregivers and build friendships, a sense of self-worth, and make it clear that although circumstances don’t allow them to access many services like ours, that their needs and development are very important.

What does this organisation do?

Mannum Mini Movers KinderGym runs KinderGym sessions for children in our community ranging from 6 months to 5 years of age. KinderGym is a movement based learning experience for young children and their caregivers. We provide a safe environment for children to develop physical skills in a fun and playful way. KinderGym builds children’s confidence, optimises brain development and increases their physical potential ready for when they start school. Our sessions also provide a place for social interaction and the building of lifelong friendships between children, and also between their caregivers.

This project needs this funding - spoke to a little boy who had been to Kindergym this morning, and he was so enthusiastic and excited. Let's keep this running!
