What is the aim and objectives of the Master Plans?

The aim of the master plans is to develop a suite of proposed options (Draft Site Option Profiles) that complement existing investment in, and management of, the River Murray, thereby contributing to the objectives of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

The objectives of the master plans are to:

    • gather input on current operations and future opportunities for achieving environmental outcomes
    • explore the feasibility of options for investment
    • provide a long-term framework for achieving environmental outcomes
    • improve the capacity to coordinate and manage sites.

What are the benefits of the master plans?

The master plans will enable efficient and effective resource allocation (water for the environment, people and infrastructure) as a result of having a clear, prioritised pathway for future investment.

How were the master plans developed?

Extensive stakeholder consultation has been undertaken over a two year period involving the First Peoples of the River Murray and Mallee Region, local interest groups, councils, irrigators and private landholders that have a strong interest in, long-standing history of, and vision for the Lock 3 and Bookmark Creek areas.
