What's being decided?

The Department for Child Protection (DCP) is seeking your feedback on the draft Suicide Prevention Action Plan 2026 – 2029 (the plan).

The plan sets out the practical actions DCP will take to prioritise suicide prevention, early intervention, aftercare and support and respond to the needs of staff, carers, and children and young people in care.

Background

The plan was developed following a comprehensive review of DCP’s existing policies, procedures and resources and the input gathered from staff, carers, young people and representative bodies involved with the child protection system.

The department acknowledges those who generously gave their time to share their narratives, wisdom and living and lived experience to inform this draft.

The plan complements the vision of the State Suicide Prevention Plan 2023 -2026 to create compassionate, resilient and connected communities that support wellbeing and prevent suicide in South Australia.
