We want to make South Australian streets a safer place for everyone. Give us your feedback on a proposal to manage anti-social and disorderly behaviour in public areas.

What is being decided?

The Summary Offences (Declared Public Precincts) Amendment Bill 2016 (PDF, 145KB) proposes new laws that will help manage anti-social and disorderly behaviour in public areas.

This draft Bill will allow for the declaration of public precincts and give South Australia Police the same powers they already possess in a licensed venue. Officers would be able to deal with disorderly behaviour before serious offending occurs, and would help ensure public and personal safety, allowing people to enjoy and freely move through public spaces in South Australia.

How will your input be used?

We want the community to have their say on the benefits and/or risks associated to making this change, and we'll be consulting with the relevant government agencies and other interested parties too. You can download the draft Bill (PDF, 145KB) and tell us what you think about what's being proposed.

We will consider all feedback and comments on the draft Bill from the community and stakeholders, and the final legislation will be sent to Parliament in due course. Updates will also be available on this page.
