What is this consultation about?

The Department for Education has developed a draft set of actions for its next Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026-2030. We’re now asking for feedback on these actions to make sure they reflect the real experiences and priorities of people with disability. This includes students in public education, their families, carers and the wider community.

    Why are these actions important?

The actions guide how the Department for Education improves access, communication, inclusion and the overall experience for people with disability including students in South Australia’s public education system, and the staff who work for the Department for Education across our range of services and workplaces. Your feedback helps us make sure the actions are clear, practical and focused on the areas that matter most.

    Who can take part?

Anyone can contribute. We especially encourage people with disability, students, families, carers, disability organisations, advocates and Department for Education staff to share their thoughts.

What are we asking you to give feedback on?

We’re looking for feedback on the draft actions:

    • Is the plan easy to understand?
    • Is anything unclear or missing?
    • Do they reflect the barriers and experiences you see or face?

You’re welcome to comment on specific actions or the plan as a whole.

How will my feedback be used?

All feedback will be reviewed and used to refine the final plan before it is released.

When will the final DAIP be released?

After the consultation period, we’ll finalise the actions and aim to publish the plan by April 2026.

How can I stay up to date?

Updates will be posted on the Department for Education's website.
