What's being decided?

We have developed a draft management plan for Dingley Dell Conservation Park which outlines the objectives and strategies for the long-term management of the park.

We are asking the community to share their views on the future management of the park.

Background

Park management plans are the primary document for each of South Australia’s parks. Management plans are high level, strategic documents that set the direction and outline how parks will be managed. They are required for all parks under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972.

The themes, objectives and strategies in the draft plan sets the direction for the management of the park and guides contemporary management of the park’s heritage and natural values.

Once finalised, this plan will replace the Dingley Dell Conservation Park section of the Small Inland Parks of the South East Management Plan (1994).

While the protection and conservation of natural and heritage values, and providing opportunity for tourism is a focus in the current plan it doesn’t envisage tourist accommodation.

The draft plan enables upgrades of existing infrastructure and the development of new facilities including small-scale accommodation to support tourism and experiences where visitors can appreciate and learn about Dingley Dell Cottage and the park's biodiversity.
