Eyre Peninsula Regional Landscape Plan 2026
What's happening?
Have your say on the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board’s draft five-year plan for managing Eyre Peninsula’s diverse landscapes in partnership with the community, stakeholders and project partners.
Following a review of the current plan in 2025, this plan has been drafted with five priority areas to focus on.
Feedback on the draft plan will be used to finalise the Eyre Peninsula Regional Landscape Plan, which will be operational from 1 July 2026.
Background
Under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019, we have statutory requirements for managing declared pest plants and animals, land protection and management, and water planning and management. In addition, the Act promotes ecologically sustainable development and biodiversity conservation, with a strong emphasis on community-led and locally-delivered landscape management.
These requirements, as well as feedback gathered from the plan review, have led us to five priority areas of:
- Water: Sustainable, climate responsive management of watercourses, wetlands and groundwater to improve condition and support productive uses
- Primary Production: Protect and maintain soil health and land condition to enable productive, adaptive and sustainable primary production
- Land and coastal biodiversity: Protect and enhance land and coastal ecosystems to recover threatened species and build ecosystem resilience
- Pest plants and animals: Reduce the impacts of pest plants and animals on biodiversity and primary production, and prevent new invasive species from establishing
- Collaboration and partnerships: Work together to deliver programs and empower communities to sustainably manage natural resources
To guide the development of our five-year plan, we have three control policies for activities that affect:
- water management
- land management
- management of pest plants and animals.
Yearly business plans and subregional descriptions also provide insights into the natural resources, ecological systems and key drivers across EP, and can be found on the Board's regional planning web page.
