The arrangement to not notify customers if the planned interruption is less than 15 minutes has been in place in South Australia for a number of years. However, it is a variation to the National Energy Retail Rules, and will expire on 30 June 2015.
The Department of State Development is seeking your feedback on a proposal to extend the variation, to continue the current arrangement.
Without this variation, SA Power Networks will need to give you four business days’ notice of any interruption, even when it will be less than 15 minutes. This could cost South Australian electricity customers an additional $2.1 million per year.
Read the Discussion Paper for the change to notice requirements relating to planned interruptions of energy supply.
