Does your plan include National Park management?

No. National Parks and Wildlife Services SA (NPWSSA) is responsible for this. At times we collaborate with NPWSSA on projects such as pest plant and animal control.

Does your plan manage or provide support for tourism development?

No. Locally, this is managed by Regional Development Australia Eyre Peninsula (RDAEP) and local government and businesses. However, our Eyes on Eyre project has seen us work with RDAEP and local government on managing environmental impacts resulting from increased visitation to the region.

Are you responsible for management of threatened species?

No. This responsibility sits with the Australian Government and National Parks. However, we are involved with localised threatened species work at times when funding is available. For example our current Sheoak Grassy Woodland recovery project is aiming to improve the condition of this threatened vegetation community. This has been funded by the Australian Government. Previously we had an Australian Government funded project for protecting and conserving threatened saltmarsh communities.

Is the Board responsible for household water security and supply?

No. We are responsible for protecting natural resources.

We do this through the management of the EP Water Allocation Plan. This plan manages the extraction of groundwater from wells within two Prescribed Areas. There are currently 17 private licence holders in the Southern Basins and 7 in the Musgrave area. SA Water is a licence holder.

We also manage water affecting activities for water resources including watercourses, lakes or dams, floodplains, groundwater, springs, wetlands, waterholes and catchment landscapes. Permits are required for activities that can have adverse impacts on the health and condition of water resources.

Does your plan manage our marine life?

No. This is managed by National Parks or the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA.
