Consultation Update

In 2024, the Department for Energy and Mining ran the first stage of consultation, asking for feedback on a concept design for the proposed Firm Energy Reliability Mechanism. This included feedback on the scheme’s design and objectives, and how it would operate to support sufficient long duration firm capacity.

Accommodating the collective feedback, the department has progressed key design features to prepare draft regulations.

The final Stage 2 Consultation offers industry and other stakeholders the opportunity to give feedback on specific design issues, to ensure the scheme works as intended.
