Green Adelaide Regional Landscape Plan 2026-2031

Consultation has concluded

Have your say on Green Adelaide’s draft 5-year plan for managing Adelaide’s urban environment.

We are seeking feedback on the draft Green Adelaide Regional Landscape Plan 2026-2031, to understand whether the plan’s outcomes and activities are considered fit-for-purpose in guiding positive change for Adelaide’s urban environment.

While the actions in the plan will be delivered by Green Adelaide, to maximise our impact and deliver meaningful environmental outcomes, it’s critical that we work collaboratively with partners, stakeholders and the community. We are interested in understanding whether individuals, groups, organisations and agencies can see opportunities to work with us towards making Adelaide cooler, greener, wilder and more climate resilient.

Feedback from this consultation will be used to shape and finalise the regional landscape plan, which will be operational from 1 July 2026.

Background

The draft Regional Landscape Plan 2026-2031 outlines Green Adelaide’s strategic leadership role in managing Adelaide’s environment for the next 5 years.

It centres on 3 focus areas: Coast and Marine, Inland Waters, and Greening and Biodiversity, outlining the desired environmental outcomes for each area and the proposed actions to make progress towards achieving them.

The plan has been drafted following a review of the previous regional landscape plan, and consultation with stakeholders and partner organisations.

What are the next steps?

Your feedback will be considered as we prepare the final Green Adelaide Regional Landscape Plan 2026-2031. We will share a summary of this feedback on this site.

The final plan is expected to be released in early 2026.

  • Why isn’t Green Adelaide responsible for the entire catchments of the Onkaparinga, Torrens and South Para? How can the water quality of these waterways be seriously managed when Green Adelaide is not responsible for the source of the water. Using council boundaries to define an area ignores the fact that geography regions do not follow council boundaries.

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for your question. The landscape management region boundaries were established under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019, with the goal of goal was a simpler, more integrated framework for managing land, water, pests, and biodiversity. The Green Adelaide boundary was established to cover the urban area of greater Adelaide, to enable a focus on urban natural resources management.

  • What is the point of your committee when the premier wants to cut down 9;000 trees for a golf tournament

    Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your question. Landscape Boards, including Green Adelaide, have multiple functions relating to supporting and managing natural resources across their regions. The Regional Landscape Plan will guide Green Adelaide’s actions within our region in relation to our focus areas of coast and marine, inland waters, and greening and biodiversity. It outlines our aspirations in these areas and will help us prioritise our work over the coming 5 years.
