We want to work with you to create the Creative Industries Sector Strategy; a 10 year plan to support the growth of the creative industries in South Australia.

What’s being decided?

Growth State: our plan for prosperity is the South Australian Government’s plan to promote industry growth. Key sectors with strong growth prospects have been identified as part of this plan, including the creative industries.

The Creative Industries Discussion Paper sets the scene on the creative industries sector, which includes:

  • Advertising
  • Broadcasting: TV and Radio
  • Craft
  • Design: Architecture, Fashion, Graphic and Web
  • Festivals
  • Literature and Publishing
  • Music
  • Performing Arts
  • Screen Production: TV, Film, post-production, digital and visual effects (PDV) and Game Development
  • Visual Arts and Photography

We are inviting representatives of the above sectors to explore the opportunities and challenges associated with their sectors and to contribute to Growth State by being part of the development of an industry-led sector strategy.

Industry and stakeholder input will help us set the goals for our creative industries and determine where we want to be in 2030.

How can your input influence the decision?

Feedback received through the industry engagement process will inform the development of the Creative Industries Sector Strategy; a 10 year plan to support the growth of the creative industries in South Australia.

Your input will be collated and considered in the development of the Creative Industries Sector Strategy. As a contributor, we will also ensure you have the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft strategy.

What are the next steps?

When sector strategies have been developed, we will work with the creative industries to bring these together into an overarching Creative Industries Sector Strategy.

Government will work with industry to implement the Strategy and support South Australia's creative industries to grow.

The Strategy will be released in July 2020 and will be available on this site.

The Government recognises that for South Australia to succeed we need to do things differently to create an environment that is conducive to sustainable growth. Growth State is a coordinated government commitment to real, concrete actions and deliverables. Carefully designed to leverage South Australia’s competitive advantages, it will set out the collective responsibility of industry and government to grow our economy.

South Australia's future prosperity will be built by accelerating the development of industry sectors that have strong prospects globally. The creative industries is one of the nine priority sectors that have been identified based upon the sector's potential for growth.

Our creative industries play a vital role in building a dynamic state economy. They attract investment, create employment, boost tourism and add immeasurably to our global reputation as a creative city.

With your leadership, we will set the goals for our creative industries and determine where we want to be in 2030. Once developed, the Sector Strategy will enable government and industry to integrate these strategies into the South Australian Government’s Growth State: our plan for prosperity initiative.
