Proposed Suburb Name Change - Southern Portion of Hackham to Onkaparinga Heights
Consultation has concluded. Thanks for your contributions.
Have your say on the proposed re-alignment of the Hackham suburb boundary and name change to Onkaparinga Heights.
What's being decided?
We are seeking your feedback on a proposal to realign part of the suburb boundary of Hackham with Hepenstal Road, as well as assigning the name Onkaparinga Heights to the area south of Hepenstal Road.
You can view the maps of the current and proposed boundary.
Background
The southern portion of Hackham is being developed to become a master-planned community offering up to 2000 new homes.
The developer has provided a written submission to the Surveyor-General requesting to change the suburb name of the area being developed to Onkaparinga Heights.
Realigning the boundary and providing a new name for this portion of the existing suburb of Hackham provides a unique identity for a new and growing community while maintaining logical and recognisable suburb boundaries.
The new suburb boundary will provide a clear distinction between existing development and a new master-planned development.
Only a small number of existing residents within the proposed area would be affected and required to change their address to reference the new suburb name - Onkaparinga Heights.
The community is being advised of the proposal and given the opportunity to have their say and make submissions about proposed suburb boundary changes following a public notice.
The public notice was published in the Government Gazette dated 8 December 2022 beginning public consultation and can be viewed at sa.gov.au/placenameproposals.
This consultation is separate to any previously carried out by, or on behalf of the developer.
The Geographical Names Act 1991 requires a one-month consultation period, however due to this period including the Christmas and New Year Holiday period, consultation has been extended to 19 January 2023 (six weeks from the date of publication of the public notice).
