‘Mental health concerns’ refer to a person’s experience of mental health issues. It can impact a person’s cognitive, functional, emotional or social abilities, but may not be to the extent that it meets the criteria for a mental illness diagnosis. These experiences are common and likely to resolve in time with the right support but if the mental health concern persists or increase in severity, it may develop into a mental illness.
