Are there any known Aboriginal sites within the Application Areas?

Of the 14 Application Areas, five intersect Aboriginal heritage sites for which records exist on AAR’s central archives. Four of these are located on Point Pearce Peninsula/Burgiyana and the other is located on Dead Man’s Island/Mungari. There are no central archives records for Aboriginal sites within the Wardang Island/Waraldi Application Areas. AAR considers that all 14 Application Areas may intersect, or are likely to intersect, Aboriginal sites within the meaning of the Act. Maps showing the approximate location of these sites within the Application Areas are available here

Please refer to the Consultation Information Pack and the Public Consultation Notice for further information regarding Aboriginal heritage relevant to the Application Areas.

Will there be a public meeting to discuss this application?

AAR will endeavour to contact key Traditional Owners, as well as Aboriginal people and organisations with a known interest in the Application Areas. For further details, please call (08) 8303 0757 or visit dpc.sa.gov.au/heritage-applications.
