In October 2013 the Review of the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005 undertaken by the former Police Minister the Honourable Paul Holloway was released.
Priority recommendations set out in the Review of the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005 are being implemented, improving emergency service delivery to the South Australian community.
A key recommendation of the report was that South Australia consolidate the Metropolitan Fire Service, Country Fire Service and State Emergency Services into a single departmental structure, operating separately but under the sole direction of one Chief Executive. Similar models are used interstate.
