Why is there not a disability access and inclusion plan specific to public transport?

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) has already been developed through another consultation process in 2020 and will run through until 2022.

It covers a host of actions not just those specific to public transport. At the conclusion of the DIT DAIP a transport specific DAIP will be developed.

The DIT DAIP (including easy read version) can be found here (Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2020-2022 - Department for Infrastructure and Transport - South Australia (dit.sa.gov.au))

Why were these groups specifically selected for Action Plans?

Diversity and Inclusion is an area of growth for Adelaide Metro, and as an organisation we are seeking to better understand the unique barriers facing customers where there may be additional challenges.

These groups were selected because of the access to available information of which we could baseline participation, and the intersectionality of the groups, being that age, disability, culture and language, and gender all include people who would also belong to the other groups and vice versa.

As we grow and evolve in this space, it is envisaged that these groups will expand to be more inclusive of further priority groups in future iterations of the framework and action plans.
