2022 Amendment Bill Consultation Summary

Consultation on the draft Assisted Reproductive Treatment (Posthumous Use of Material and Donor Conception Register) Amendment Bill 2022 (Amendment Bill) closed on 6 December 2022.

Feedback on the Amendment Bill showed us that the majority of respondents to the consultation support the rights of donor-conceived people to access identifying information about their genetic parent(s) (donor).

A Bill Consultation Summary Report is available and provides further information about the feedback received via written submissions and the questions and comments provided via YourSAy.

We’re considering all feedback before finalising a draft Amendment Bill for Parliament to consider in 2023. Development of the technical solution for an accessible DCR is also progressing and we’ll soon commence the process to find an appropriately qualified support service provider(s) ahead of access to the DCR being enabled.

The State Government remains committed to ensuring that donor-conceived people have a right to access information about their genetic heritage, where available, in South Australia.
