Consultation Update

The Parliament of South Australia has passed the Retirement Villages (Miscellaneous) Amendment Act 2024.

The Amendment Act makes important updates to the existing Retirement Villages Act 2016 (RV Act) to increase consumer protection, improve village administration, strengthen the standards applying to retirement village operators and village staff, and strengthen the powers and functions of the Retirement Villages Registrar.

The new laws will commence on a date to be set by proclamation. Supporting regulations will be required to be drafted before new laws commence. Draft regulations will be available for public consultation on the YourSAy website in due course.
