The Council thanks the 1,396 people who responded to the What Matters to Women in South Australia survey. The feedback received will guide the Council’s choice of issues to focus their efforts on.

The survey listed the 13 key issues which were identified as important during consultations the Council undertook across South Australia in 2010. In the current survey, women were given the opportunity to re-assess and re-evaluate the importance of the 13 identified issues and/or identify other issues they now felt were important. The report highlights the issues from the survey that were most frequently identified as being important.

Based on the number of responses received, the top five issues identified were violence against women; employment and work; health and wellbeing; economic disadvantage and financial security; and education and training.

The Council is currently analysing the responses from the survey and reviewing the existing policies and programs already implemented by state and federal Governments and across South Australian industry and community groups to identify opportunities where the Council can be influential advocates on behalf of the women of South Australia.
