What We Heard About Suicide In South Australia

Consultation has concluded. Below is a record of the engagement.

We want to make sure we have properly heard what you think will make a difference in preventing suicide.

What's being decided?

We are developing the next suicide prevention plan for South Australia in partnership with you, the SA community.

From feedback in our previous consultation, we developed the What We Heard About Suicide In South Australia report. We are now seeking your feedback to make sure we have properly heard what you think will make a difference in preventing suicide.

Your feedback will help us put in place a plan that makes a meaningful change in reducing preventable suicide in South Australia.

Background

In our public consultation to help us develop the plan, we received input from over 3,200 people, organisations and communities throughout metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas of South Australia, to gain the benefit of your wisdom and experience on resilience and suicide prevention.

For those who shared with us their experiences and wisdom in our earlier consultation, we hope that you feel your views and ideas are represented in the report and its key themes. We are keen to know if we heard you right.

For those who did not participate in the earlier public consultation, we welcome any feedback on this report.

Your feedback will help us put in place a plan that makes a meaningful change in reducing preventable suicide in South Australia.

If you need help or support, we've listed a number of resources you can contact below.

Something we heard frequently during the public consultation was that suicide can be challenging to talk about and it is so important to be met with compassion. We hope the ways we offer you to engage with us are comfortable, and if not, we would like to know too how we could do things differently.

What are the next steps?

Following this further feedback we will continue to develop the next South Australian suicide prevention plan to be ready for release in late 2021.
