The State Public Health Plan (the Plan) is a blueprint for action on the State’s public health priorities. It aims to effectively communicate what public health is and provide a framework, to be used in the development of actions which can improve public health outcomes.
What's being decided?
The draft 2025 Plan needs to be finalised, and your feedback is a critical step towards this milestone.
The draft 2025 Plan has been co-developed in partnership with a diverse set of public health stakeholders and supports the collective vision for a healthy, liveable and connected community for all South Australians. These stakeholder consultations, along with detailed review of public health outcome data, evidence, knowledge and literature have informed the draft 2025 Plan, which is now ready for your feedback.
Background
The State Public Health Plan is a legislative requirement under the South Australian Public Health Act 2011. The current Plan is available here: 2019-2024 State Public Health Plan.
The draft 2025 Plan development has been overseen by the Chief Public Health Officer in collaboration with a Plan Advisory Group comprised of the SA Public Health Council, the Local Government Association and Preventive Health SA. Across ten dedicated engagement sessions over 215 individuals inputted to the development of the Priority Areas and Strategic Directions.

Get involved
The ultimate vision for the 2025 Plan is to be a ‘digital first’ format. A modern and innovative online presentation of the 2025 Plan’s content will support the ability to make ongoing updates, improved navigation, and increased interest in the 2025 Plan’s content.
The provided draft represents the content only of the 2025 Plan. The final version of the 2025 Plan document will include branding, images, artwork, and be supported by video messages from key leaders and partners in public health in the interactive version.

What are the next steps?
Following closure of this consultation, the development team will progress the following steps:
- The feedback will be reviewed and appropriately actioned and imagery and branding will be added to the draft 2025 Plan
- Final comment will be sought from targeted stakeholders before seeking the Ministers endorsement of the 2025 Plan
- The 2025 Plan document will be gazetted and released publicly
- The 2025 Plan content will be translated and presented in an online format
