Consultation has concluded. Thanks for your contributions.

Have your say about how the Foley’s shack area in Chowilla will be set out and managed in the future.

What's being decided?

It has been decided that all infrastructure at Foley’s Shack needs to be removed as it is an unauthorised structure in a park.

We are seeking your feedback to help guide National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia (NPWS) to plan and redevelop this area. We want to hear from you and understand how you would like to see this area managed for all to enjoy.

Your feedback will help inform decisions about:

  • how many campsites will be developed and where to place them
  • whether to incorporate a day visit area or not
  • what park infrastructure to include in this area (including picnic tables, shelters, interpretive signs)

Background

NPWS is seeking to improve the visitor experience for those camping in the Chowilla Game Reserve by removing an old structure known as ‘Foley’s Shack’ and replacing it with new campsites.

The decision has been made to demolish the old structure. We are now commencing community engagement to seek feedback on how the area can be best redeveloped.

In the future, the public will be able to book the new campsites through the NPWS website.
