What is being decided?

The Eyre Peninsula Natural Resources Management Board has prepared a draft Strategy for Aboriginal Partnerships in the Eyre Peninsula Natural Resources Management Region (844 KB).

It aims to build effective partnerships between Aboriginal groups and the Eyre Peninsula NRM Board to support Traditional Custodians and Aboriginal communities to care for Country and actively participate in natural resource management throughout the region.

It also aims to facilitate incorporating Traditional knowledge and culture in natural resource management policies, plans and actions in the Eyre Peninsula NRM region.

The draft strategy aims to achieve four key strategies and objectives:

  • Building relationships
  • Partnerships and capacity building
  • Delivery and resourcing
  • Governance and accountability

Once finalised, this strategy will be a basis for developing partnerships between Aboriginal organisations and communities in the Eyre Peninsula NRM region and the Eyre Peninsula NRM Board. It will be treated as a living, evolving strategy in recognition that opportunities and priorities change.

The strategy was developed in line with Goal Three from the overall Regional NRM Plan, which aims for: Active participation in natural resource management, and specifically to strategic area F) Supporting traditional owners and Aboriginal communities to care for Country.

How can your input influence the decision?

You are invited to have your say on the draft Aboriginal partnerships strategy, particularly the key strategies and objectives within this draft.

Your feedback will be considered in finalising the strategy and help set the direction of the board’s strategic long-term commitment in furthering Aboriginal participation in natural resources management in the Eyre Peninsula NRM region.

How will your input be used?

All feedback will be considered and, where possible, incorporated into the final strategy.

The Eyre Peninsula NRM Board will consider the revised strategy at its meeting on Tuesday, 12 December 2017.
