What is being decided?
Growth State: our plan for prosperity is an initiative to promote industry growth by responding to their needs and leveraging South Australia’s competitive advantages.
Our Hi-Tech Sector Discussion Paper opens a conversation on how we can grow the Hi-Tech sector in South Australia, which provides opportunities in various industries including:
- Creative Industries
- Defence
- Space Industries
- Energy and Minerals
- Food, Wine and Agribusiness
- Health and Medical Industries
- International Education
- Tourism
We are inviting representatives of the Hi-Tech sector to explore the opportunities and challenges in South Australia and to contribute to Growth State by being part of the development of an industry-led sector strategy.
Industry and stakeholder input will help us set the goals for the Hi-Tech sector and determine where we want to be in 2030.
How can your input influence the decision?
Feedback received through this industry engagement process will inform the development of the Hi-Tech Sector Strategy 2030; a 10 year plan to support the growth of Hi-Tech industries in South Australia.
As a contributor, you will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft strategy.

The Government recognises that for South Australia to succeed we need to do things differently to create an environment that is conducive to sustainable growth. Growth State is a coordinated government commitment to real, concrete actions and deliverables. Carefully designed to leverage South Australia’s competitive advantages, it will set out the collective responsibility of industry and government to grow our economy.
South Australia's future prosperity will be built by accelerating the development of industry sectors that have strong prospects globally. The creative industries is one of the nine priority sectors that have been identified based upon the sector's potential for growth.
Frontier, emerging and platform technologies that address societal and environmental challenges can potentially create new growth opportunities for business and the economy. South Australia has many competitive advantages that could be applied to develop new Hi-Tech products and services for global markets.
With your leadership, we will set the goals for our Hi-Tech industries and determine where we want to be in 2030. Once developed, the Hi-Tech Sector Strategy will enable government and industry to integrate these strategies into the South Australian Government’s Growth State: our plan for prosperity initiative.
