Hackham Code Amendment Approved

The Minister for Planning has approved the Hackham Code Amendment, with changes that take into account feedback received during consultation.

The Code Amendment will change the planning policy and zoning of land at Hackham to support the development of up to 2,000 new houses, an activity centre, and associated stormwater and road infrastructure. It addresses an immediate need to provide additional housing and land supply in the south of Adelaide to support the region’s future population and employment growth.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during the consultation period. The (External link)What We Heard Document (External link)summarises the key feedback received last year, while the Full Engagement Report(External link) and Final Code Amendment Summary Document outline the final changes made to the Code Amendment in response to public feedback.

Key changes include new policy to guide development on sloping land. The approved changes to zoning will also provide an appropriate transition in development to adjacent areas of natural or built form character such as the Onkaparinga River National Park and Old Noarlunga.

These changes will come into effect once published in the online Planning and Design Code, which is expected in February 2023.
