South Australian Head to Health Kids Hub

Consultation has concluded

Help us shape a new mental health and wellbeing service for children and families in South Australia.

What's being decided?

The Australian Government and South Australian Government are working together to establish a Head to Health Kids Hub which will be delivered across two locations, in southern and northern Adelaide.

The Kids Hub will provide free mental health and wellbeing support for children up to 12 years of age, and their parents and carers.

A National Head to Health Kids Service Model has been developed to support consistency of the Kids Hubs across Australia, and there are flexibilities in how this model is adapted to best meet the needs of the South Australian community.

We want to hear from parents, carers, and people who are involved in the care and support of children and families, to help inform the development of a local service model that meets the needs of children and families in South Australia.

Background

Head to Health (H2H) Kids Hubs are a national network of child and family mental health and wellbeing services being delivered across Australia. The services will focus on early support, providing a safe and welcoming place where children with emerging mental health needs can access assessments, therapy, and support, and coordinated care.

The Kids Hubs are based on the National Head to Health Kids Service Model, which has been developed to support a consistent approach in the delivery of the Kids Hubs services across all states and territories.

A number of activities are currently underway to seek feedback from a range of perspectives to ensure the Kids Hub provides a culturally safe and welcoming environment for children and families. This includes workshops and co-design sessions with:

  • families, caregivers, and young people
  • local services and organisations working with children and families
  • Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations
  • culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

Feedback from this consultation will inform the South Australian Head to Health Kids Hub Service Model and guide how the service is delivered.
