Help decide how we can more efficiently move people, goods and services on our roads and public transport networks.

Through working with the community and seeking feedback, the Government looking at a better and more integrated approach to managing our road network that makes the best use of our existing roads and helps resolve competing interests for available road space.

We want to improve the efficiency and safety of our traffic networks to reduce travel times for all road users, improve the flow of traffic and provide more certainty for people looking to simply get from A to B.

  • Outcome

    The Operation Moving Traffic report, released by the Minister for Transport on Monday 18 April, 2016, consists of a number of proposed short to medium term actions in key areas that will begin the process of change needed to keep people and goods moving on the land transport network in Adelaide. These early actions are designed to deliver some immediate results at relatively low cost and to establish the foundation for network and business intelligence.

    Consultation on identified actions within Operation Moving Traffic will continue throughout 2016, as will engagement on medium-term actions and on-going strategies aimed at smarter multi-modal management of the road space for improved performance into the future.

    Operation Moving Traffic - Update

    Operation Moving Traffic is a South Australian Government initiative launched in 2015 to improve the efficiency, reliability and safety of the transport network, which includes both roads and public transport and extends across Greater Adelaide.

    Congestion on our roads not only impacts how people move in cars; it also affects the reliability and experience of public transport services and the capacity of businesses to move goods and services in a way that affects our economic competitiveness.
