Recreational Fishing Tourism Strategy

Consultation has concluded. Thanks for your contributions.

Let us know your vision for recreational fishing tourism

What's being decided?

The South Australian Tourism Commission in partnership with RecFish SA is developing a recreational fishing tourism strategy to:

• help the sector achieve full potential; and

• maximise its contribution to the South Australian economy, people and nature.

The Strategy will be an important strategic piece that aligns with the South Australian Visitor Economy Sector Plan and the South Australian Regional Visitor Strategy.

The Strategy is at the preliminary stages, and we would like to understand what your needs and views are to inform its development.

Background

The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) recognises the important role that recreational fishing tourism plays as part of the wider visitor economy and is committed to supporting a sustainable Recreational Fishing Tourism sector. Recreational fishing tourism is an important driver of visitation across the State, and recreational fishers contribute to the dispersal of tourism dollars deep into the regions.

The aim of the strategy is to:

• Consolidate South Australia as a key recreational fishing tourism destination through promotion of its natural assets and fishing experiences and destinations through the state.

• Provide a framework and set of indicators that highlights the economic contribution of recreational fishing tourism to our state.

The strategy uses the following strategic priorities

  • Marketing
  • Experience and Supply Development
  • Collaboration
  • Industry Capability
  • Recreational Fishing Events
