Future of digital in healthcare
Consultation has concluded. Below is a record of the engagement.
How can digital technologies help improve the patient journey?
What's being decided?
Digital adoption is one of the biggest influences on health care. COVID has accelerated this transformation and triggered digital leaps forward that were expected to take years, from telehealth, virtual consults to virtual hospitals internationally.
Redirecting some hospital-based treatment to people’s homes through telemedicine, and mobile health is transforming health services to be more people focussed. Patients can get better treatment with virtual reality tools, electronic sensors, wearable medical devices, telehealth, and 5G mobile technology.
We want to hear your views about the use of digital services to access healthcare at Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.
Background
As technology becomes more advanced and mainstream in society, digital enhancements have shown remarkable value for health. From technologies allowing people to manage their health more effectively, to better ways of diagnosing disease, to monitoring the impact of policies on population health, digital inclusion for the health industry is influencing how health services are delivered and run.
An educated, aware, and engaged public is our goal. Individuals and families can be encouraged to take an active role in their health and well-being, for example by connecting to high-quality health information online.
Effective use of digital technologies can also support self-care, provide ways to address health needs, and enable access to health at a distance. With technology, service users can feedback their experiences of care with the potential for increased transparency in the processes and assessments of health services.
