Creating a new suburb, Seacliff Heights

Have your say on creating a new suburb, Seacliff Heights.
What's being decided?
We are seeking your feedback on plans to realign Seacliff Park, Seacliff and Marino suburb boundaries to create a new suburb named Seacliff Heights.
Your feedback will be considered in deciding whether to create the new suburb and help shape the final boundary changes.
Background
Creating the new suburb is being considered in response to the proposed ‘Seacliff Village’ residential and commercial development, which includes areas of land in Seacliff Park, Seacliff and Marino.
The new suburb would include this development, as well as existing homes and businesses south of Ocean Boulevard in Seacliff Park.
The proposed name ‘Seacliff Heights’ reflects the site’s topography and would create a unique identity for a new and growing community.
Benefits of the proposed new suburb include:
- creating an identifiable suburb with a different character to surrounding areas
- removing confusion caused by Seacliff Park being located on both sides of Ocean Boulevard, particularly for emergency services and deliveries.
This proposal has been developed in consultation with Marion and Holdfast Bay councils and reflects community feedback received during consultation on a previous proposal in November 2022.
If approved, existing residents and business owners located in the new suburb of Seacliff Heights would need to update their address with a number of agencies and organisations.
These changes would be made under provisions in Section 11B of the Geographical Names Act 1991.
