Cowell and Districts - have your say!
Healthcare services are delivered by many different people and organisations. Some are public organisations like hospitals, or private businesses like GP clinics and chemists, and some are not-for-profit organisations. They all provide care to your community.
Northern Eyre Health Care is an innovative pilot project aiming to improve access to the wide range of healthcare services in and around Cowell, and the wider region.
The project's scope involves primary health care - your first point of contact with the health system, such as a GP, nurse, allied health or mental health professional.
However, in considering the healthcare needs, the project will take into account connections between other levels of healthcare, including secondary care - from specialists you might be referred on to, and tertiary care - in a hospital setting.
Why is my input needed?
Healthcare service providers and community organisations are working together to design a service delivery model that will support the health and wellbeing of residents.
To develop the best plan, they need to understand your experiences and needs.
Please take the Healthcare Services Survey below, engage with the project team when they visit your area early in 2025, and subscribe to keep up to date.
Delivery of the Northern Eyre Health Care project
The Northern Eyre Health Care project is delivered by the Northern Eyre Peninsula Health Alliance (NEPHA). NEPHA was formed in 2019 by a consortium of the District Councils of Streaky Bay, Elliston, Wudinna, Kimba, Cleve and Franklin Harbour, and Streaky Bay Medical Board. Click here to read more about NEPHA.
NEPHA’s first project investigated the market failure of medical clinics across the region and recommended areas for improvement that would help empower the region's communities to attract and retain GPs and health professionals.
The Northern Eyre Health Care project is supported by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care, through an Innovative Models of Care Program grant, and by Eyre and Far North Local Health Network (SA Health) as a facilitating partner.
